Nazarene church's global expansion by year and world area

Timeline: Year in which each world area was officially entered by the Church of the Nazarene

Note: Due to political issues, some of the almost 170 world areas where the Church of the Nazarene is present in ministry are not on this list. Those places are simply known as "Additional world areas."

The "year entered" indicates the official start of Nazarene ministry in that world area. If a church or group of churches merged with the denomination (such as what happened in Italy, for example), the year indicates the year of that merger rather than the year in which that church or group of churches began. In other cases, the year indicates when the first efforts were made to pioneer work in the country (such as Bulgaria, for example).

The year in which the most areas were officially entered was 1992, when eight new world areas were added to the list. In second place is the year 2000, when the denomination officially entered seven new world areas.

Note: In almost 170 world areas, there were more than 2.6 million members of the Church of the Nazarene.

Although most of the places on this list are countries, the label "world area" is used because places like Martinique and Guam are considered separate from France and the U.S.A. even though they are not separate nations. Martinique is one of the Special Collectivity of the French Republic and Guam is an organized, unincorporated territory of the United States of America.
