Missions promotion assignment
How to publicize and promote world missions

An Introduction to Missions course assignment asks you to spend
at least five hours during the semester publicizing and promoting a missions opportunity.
Activities to be promoted and publicized:
- SNU's mission trip opportunities like SIMS (recruiting is done in the fall; fund-raising
in the spring)
- Mission Corps (formerly NIVS) -- year-long volunteers
- Support of current volunteers (those serving right now)
- Promote idea of going after graduation or between junior and senior years
- Helping new recruits get ready
Suggestions for promotional activities
- Announcement in chapel
- Announcement/promotion in a local church
- Big banner in central "well" of the Commons building
- Bulletin boards (one in display cases in religion building hallway and one in Commons near
student mailboxes)
- Bulletin boards in local churches
- Cafeteria table tents
- Door hangers on room doors in dormitories
- Helping raise prayer support and funds
- Flyers on bulletin boards
- Flyers posted in restrooms across campus
- Personal emails to friends and acquaintances
- Phone calls to past participants of Mexico trip encouraging them to go again or to recruit
their friends or family members to pariciate
- Phone calls to local churches
- Skits in chapel
- Special chapel
- Table in commons to collect notes to send to overseas volunteers
- Table in commons to give out flyers and information on one of the events

first.
