Study guide for final exam

This exam in the missions history course of Southern Nazarene University will be based on the assigned material in the two textbooks -- A History of Christian Missions by Stephen Neill and From Jerusalem to Irian Jaya by Ruth Tucker -- as well as class lectures and discussion.

  1. Come prepared to write a good biographical sketch of three people from this last section of Tucker, pages 413-490 (these are people of your own choosing).
  2. Know the eras of missions history which we covered early in the semester (dates and themes) [ read more ]
  3. Know the characteristics of genuine revival which Neill lists in chapter 13.
  4. Be able to briefly describe the situation of Christianity in the twentieth century in one of the countries treated by Neill in his chapter 13 (a country of your choosing).
  5. In his concluding chapter, what does Neill say occurred for the first time in the twentieth century?
  6. Know what is meant by "the 10/40 window." [ read more ]
