Commission Unto Mexico: Evangelism in northeastern Mexico

Needed: Creativity, cultural sensitivity, a love for lost people, and a burning passion to do God's will

The Mexican Nazarenes want us to help them with evangelistic activities. At some sites this will mean V.B.S. type programs. They may want us to help them in some door-to-door witnessing. At other locations, this evangelism may mean some open-air meetings. In every case we need people on each team to step forward and assume leadership for this while other members work on construction. This is a total team effort: Work and Witness.

On the first morning in Mexico we will meet our Mexican hosts to see what they have planned and how we can help them. Begin immediately to find out those in your group with musical instruments or clown suits which they have brought or crayons or puppets or other things which can be used. [ making balloon animals ]

As you have an inventory of the resources available on your team, work with local church leaders to put together an outreach program that will be the most effective in opening doors for them even after we leave. The language barrier is formidable, but we can give a boost to the Mexican Nazarenes in many ways.

Some team members have brought Spanish tracts, scripture portions and Bibles. Here in Mexico the Christmas celebration extends through January 6, Epiphany, the traditional day on which the wise men arrived in Bethlehem to see Jesus. So, use that.

Every group should start each day with a devotional time: scripture, testimonies and prayer. It can be done when you first arrive at the ministry site; it can be done during a break in the morning's activities. You even wish to close each day at the site with a prayer just before you head back to the hotel. God wants to do some mighty things through us in Mexico; let's help each of our group members sense His presence.

Remember: team meetings are planned for each evening at the hotel. These are required.
