Euro-Centrism is the viewpoint that western civilization was derived from the Greek Empire. This also encompasses the belief that civilization has a Caucasian heritage traced back to the Greeks. Adolph Hitler used this theory to support his Fascist/Nazi ideals. Afro-Centrism is basically the viewpoint that western civilization has its roots in Africa, namely Egypt. This is a more modern philosophy, which has been spurred on by the controversial book, Black Athena. These two conflicting views have altered the lens through which our society looks upon our ancestry. This in turn has begun to change the historical content taught in our educational system. We have found through our research on this controversial topic that there were many different peoples that influenced the greatest aspects of Greek civilization.
