"Greatest week of my life"

2000-2001 Commission Unto Mexico report

Commission Unto Mexico - a Work & Witness adventure for all ages

"This has been the greatest week of my life," a lady said to me in Juarez, Mexico during the 2000-2001 edition of Commission unto Mexico.

This was the 12th annual Commission Unto Mexico trip and it held its own set of adventures for participants. The winter storms that paralyzed Oklahoma and Texas over the Christmas holidays made traveling difficult.

As a result, only about 70 of the 130 registrants actually made it to Juarez. Some of those -- me included -- arrived a day or two late. Still, we were able to place teams at 7 of the 10 planned work sites.

Those small teams went all out working alongside Mexican Nazarenes to lay tile, paint, pour foundations, lay blocks, put on roofs, hold vacation Bible schools and even conduct a medical clinic at one site. The week concluded with the U.S. participants and Mexican Nazarenes from all over Juarez crowding into a rented hall to eat and sing and pray and celebrate a wonderful week of ministry together.

After Christmas of 2001, Commission Unto Mexico returned to Juarez under the theme: "Let's finish the job."
