A Life Change

Why do my mother's tears stream down her face,

As her little girl spreads her wings to fly?

Since those growing up days have now passed by

And a new and separate life finds its place.

My mother's job now takes a new turn

As she releases me to the Lord's care.

Trusting in His will and the love we share,

I distance myself in order to learn.

My faith soon blossoms and my views expand

And my mother's tears turn to joyful smiles,

Realizing that I have taken my stand

To live a life for God through all my trials

Of my own accord and holding His hand,

Not giving in to what the world beguiles.
