Crying Stars

Troy De La Rosa , 1st Place Performing Poetry

In the midst of my own deep sleep

I awake to a sound that calls to me
It doesn't call, It cries
Letting me know that I've done something wrong
It's only a quarter passed three
I awake with a pain so deep
My advice to you, never do anything you'll regret

I hear the crying stars

They cry to me
Getting me down on my knees
Telling me I need to pray:
"Please forgive me!"
Crying Stars

As I look at my window pane I see the stars, I see God

He's looking down on me, looking down on me
It's a wrong He can never forgive
It's a mistake that He can never forget
Here's a word to the wise:
Always make sure you have a friend by your side

I hear the crying stars

They cry to me
Getting me down on my knees
Telling me I need to pray:
"Please forgive me!"

Everytime I ask for God's love

Forgiveness is the one thing I never feel
Has He finally just given up on me?
Has He finally turned away?

I hear the crying stars

Crying to me
Getting me down on my knees
Telling me I need to pray:
"Please forgive me!"
