Not long ago, a professor in a Bible college asked me for a list of what I would consider the top 5 missions videos. Here is my list of the top 5 (which might be different from the top five next week!). They are listed in no particular order.
- Ee-taow or Ee-taow: The Second Chapter (New Tribes Mission) -- full of discussion starters on a variety of key issues [ viewing guide ] [ purchase video (also available on DVD) ]
- First Fruits (Vision Video) -- story of beginnings of Moravian missions. Opens discussions on everything from the "call" to the involvement of the local church in validating a call to how a missionary ministers [ purchase video: Vision Video ]
- Hudson Taylor (Vision Video) -- biography of key missions figure (some have even called him "the father of the modern missionary movement"). Opens discussion on contextualization and holistic missionary strategy
- Missionary: The Garmans (Nazarene Publishing House) -- good look into the passion in the hearts of a missionary couple
- Peace Child (Gospel Films) -- opens discussion of Don Richardson's "redemptive analogies" idea. [ viewing guide ]
My wife thinks Beyond the Next Mountain (the story of Rochunga Pudaite) ought to be in my top five list.
